At the end of August, I had the opportunity to whip out my backpacking backpack again and head back to Europe for a quick 2 week adventure. First stop: Paris!
Words cannot describe how unbelievable it felt to be back in Paris. It felt as if I never left, and that coming back to Paris from Canada was just an 8 month long vacation. Everything felt just as familiar as it did when I lived there, and I remembered every little road and metro stop just as well as I did back then. Since my mom and sister had not been to Paris before, we of course had to do all the touristy things—Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame. But most importantly, we had dinner at my favourite place, the Latin Quarter (twice! heh).
Oh how I've missed these babies...
It's not a real trip to Paris without picking up macarons from Laduree!
The whole time I have been in Paris, never have I nor my friends been pickpocketed, despite all the horror stories I’ve heard. However this time, someone tried to pickpocket my dad! Luckily he noticed what was happening and managed to swat the guy away. This didn’t stop the pickpocketer from trying a second time… like really? He still didn’t succeed though, so kudos to my dad.
Irrelevant to the story, but I've missed seeing this in grocery stores!
This time we made a stop at rue Vivienne. A street named after me?! I just had to go see it for myself. I can't believe I never ventured to this area at all during my exchange... there is a whole neighbourhood named Vivienne!
Since my sister is so artsy fartsy and design loving, we had to visit Centre Pompidou. It is a museum of modern art and design, and has numerous pieces that I simply did not understand. Luckily I got in for free— I brought my ISIC (International Student Identity Card) card I had from my exchange since it did not expire until Dec 2013 even though my exchange ended in Dec 2012. Yay for free stuff!

Leaving Paris was one of the saddest times— I can’t believe I had to leave the City of Lights again... twice in one year. I will definitely be back (again), and maybe even move there for a longer period next time?! Only time will tell..

(Some wise words, if you ask me.)
